The Special Guests

I am a founder member of Bristol-based theatre company The Special Guests. Formed in 2002, the company have been making contemporary performance ever since. We are currently making a new show called Something Got a Hold of Me. Alongside our performance work, we curate The Flaw Set, an alternative cabaret event mixing music and performance which has presented acts as diverse as Hot Club de Paris, Soeza, The Playwrights, Search Party, Pascale Straiton, Rachel Pantechnicon, Derehctub, Sleepy Ed Hicks and many more.

Residence

The Special Guests are members of Residence, which is an artist led organistion making space for artists to create performance, live art and theatre in Bristol. Current Artists involved include: Action Hero, Ed Rapley, Katie Keeler, Kate Yedigaroff, Kettle of Fish, Michelle Roche, The Special Guests, Search Party, and Sita Calvert-Ennals, Tom Marshman, Tom Wainwright.

Marketing and Press for HighTide Festival at The Cut in Halesworth, Suffolk 2007 and 2008. Programme includes new writing, devised theatre and film. National and regional press campaign included pieces in Esquire, Financial Times, BBC One’s The Andrew Marr Show and comprehensive local coverage.

Theatre Bristol

Interim cover for Theatre Bristol’s Web Editor in late 2007/early 2008. www.theatrebristol.net has become a vital portal for the theatre community in Bristol since its launch in 2005. The site provides up-to-date news, jobs, opportunities and a lively forum for artists and practitioners.

Tobacco Factory

I worked freelance for the Tobacco Factory as Press and Marketing Manager between September 2007 and January 2008. I led marketing and press campaigns for the theatre’s Autumn season, including shows from Gecko, Andrew Dawson and the Tobacco Factory’s Christmas show Treasure Island, directed by Dan Danson.

Bristol Old Vic

Interim cover with Sam McAuley after Bristol Old Vic’s Head of Marketing Matt Carwardine-Palmer left to set up MCP Arts Marketing. Campaign management for Bristol Old Vic’s Main House and Studio Spring Season, including a new version of Ibsen’s Ghosts by Frank McGuiness.

Salisbury Playhouse

I worked with Matt Carwardine-Palmer again on Salisbury Playhouse’s Spring 2008 brochure, covering during recruitment of a new Head of Marketing.

Bristol ENT Partnership

I do regular graphic design work for Bristol ENT Partnership, and other consultants at BUPA, Bristol. This includes branding, stationery and other print.
